Open Admissions Policy Statement
Barnes-Kasson County Hospital, Skilled Nursing Facility, Home Heath
Agency, and all other related programs are operated in accordance
with the regulations of the State Department of Health. The State
Department of Health complies with and enforces the laws and
regulations (Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the
Pennsylvania Human Relations Act of 1955, and the Governor's Code of
Fair Practices, dated 19 April 1967), which prohibit discrimination
against persons because of their age, sex, race, color, religious
creed, ancestry, or national origin.
It is the facility's policy to admit and to treat all patients
without regard to race, color, ancestry, national origin, religious
creed, age, or qualified handicap, including those with AIDS or
AIDS-related conditions, and those who may be perceived as having
AIDS or AIDS-related conditions. The same requirements for admission
are applied to all, and patients are assigned within the hospital
without regard to race, color, ancestry or national origin,
religious creed, age, or qualified handicap. There is no distinction
in eligibility for, or in the manner of providing any patient
service provided by or through the hospital. All facilities of the
hospital are available without distinction to all patients and
visitors, regardless of race, color, ancestry or national origin,
religious creed, age, or qualified handicap. All persons and
organizations that have occasion either to refer patients for
admission or recommend the Barnes-Kasson County Hospital, Skilled
Nursing Facility, and related departments are advised to do so
without regard to the patient's race, color, ancestry or national
origin, religious creed, age, or qualified handicap.
